Getting Started

Open Sitegeist, click on the examples, and try things out. Work with it collaboratively: correct it, give feedback, and tell it to try other approaches if it gets stuck.

Note: Sitegeist is alpha software. It contains bugs and might do silly things. Press Escape or click the stop button to stop it immediately.

Privacy & Security

Your Data Stays Private

Settings, API keys, OAuth tokens: Stored only on your computer in the browser's IndexedDB. Never sent anywhere except to the provider you are using.

Chat history: Stored only on your computer.

When you send messages: Your messages and attachments are sent to your chosen AI provider. These providers are configured to not retain your data or use it for training when supported.

CORS proxy: Some subscription logins and API calls require a CORS proxy. The default proxy (proxy.mariozechner.at) does not log or store data. You can configure your own in Settings.

Browser Permissions

Sitegeist needs these permissions to automate browser tasks:

  • Storage: Saves sessions, settings, and keys locally
  • Active tab: Sees which website you are on
  • Side panel: The chat interface
  • User scripts: Runs AI-generated code on webpages
  • Web navigation: Navigates to URLs
  • Scripting: Extracts images and page content
  • Debugger: Creates real keyboard/mouse events for stubborn websites

Your data stays on your computer unless you send it in a message.
